President Donald Trump praised the U.S. private sector going into "sixth gear" to help the U.S. supply chain amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Among those Trump praised at Saturday's coronavirus task force briefing were Hanes cotton clothing company in helping produce surgical masks and U.S. distilleries being repurposed to produce alcohol to handle the increased U.S. demand for hand sanitizer.
Among them, Pernod Ricard is repurposing alcohol production capabilities in Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas, and West Virginia to make hand sanitizer, Trump announced.
"That's a big difference, and they've been unbelievable," Trump told reporters.
He added their first delivery will start in New York on Tuesday.
Other distilleries around the U.S. have done similar repurposing of alcohol production facilities, according to CBS News.
Per the report, the following are refocusing efforts on alcohol-based hand sanitizer:
- Old Fourth Distillery in Atlanta.
- Durham Distillery in North Carolina.
- Shine Distillery & Grill in Portland, Oregon.
- Moonrise Distillery in Georgia.
