Embattled Missouri GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin has clawed his way back to even in the polls but his abandonment by the Republican Party is starting to take a toll. Television stations across the state are starting to pull his ads for lack of payment, St. Louis CBS radio affiliate
KMOX reported.
The station reported that KOMU-TV in Columbia said it only got half of the payment for an ad buy and when the rest was not forthcoming cancelled the ads. The station told KMOX that other television stations from St. Louis to Kansas City are in similar situations.
The Akin campaign said the payment problem was a mistake and the money was on the way. Major donors, super PACs and the Republican Party withdrew financial support after Akin made his controversial comments about rape and pregnancy.
