TSA to Expand Tests for Faster Trips Past Security

Wednesday, 09 November 2011 05:58 PM EST

WASHINGTON — Transportation Security Administrator John Pistole says testing for a new program aimed at getting some travelers through airport security with less hassle will expand to airports in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., in the next few months.

This expansion will affect people who travel through these airports and participate in American and Delta airlines' frequent flier programs as well as those who are part of three other government-trusted traveler programs. These travelers are eligible to volunteer more personal information about themselves so they can be vetted before they arrive at airport checkpoints.

The expansion will not have an impact on the busy upcoming Thanksgiving travel season.
