Agents Haul Boxes From Ex-Rep. Aaron Schock's Campaign Office

More than a dozen federal agents reportedly hauled boxes and equipment including at least one computer from former Illinois Republican Rep. Aaron Schock’s campaign office Thursday as a grand jury continued hearing testimony about his campaign and federal funds spending.

The activity at the Junction City, Ill., office went on for more than six hours, the Star Journal in Peoria reports.

A federal grand jury in Springfield has been hearing testimony from current and former staff members, including Sarah Rogers, the aide who coordinated the Peoria lawmaker’s official travel while he was in office, the Star Journal reports.

The Justice Department has issued subpoenas to at least eight current and former Schock staffers as it examines his expense accounts, campaign spending and relationships with donors, the newspaper reports.

Schock resigned in March after questions surfaced about why he billed taxpayers for 170,000 miles when only 80,000 miles were on his car, as first reported by Politico.

He paid the government back for all mileage reimbursements last week.

When he resigned, Schock also vowed to repay the charges, along with those for a trip by private plane to Chicago to watch a Chicago Bears game and some $35,000 for the redecoration of his congressional office, the Star Journal notes.
