Zahra Schreiber, a WWE Diva wrestler, has been fired from the organization's developmental league after a Nazi-themed Instagram post from 2012 surfaced over the weekend.
Schreiber, 28, was released after her posts featuring a swastika hanging in her room and a Hitler-themed My Little Pony, amongst others, were emphasized and condemned
over the weekend, according to Bleacher Report.
Although her offending posts have since been deleted and Schreiber has set her Instagram and Twitter accounts to private, screenshots of the Nazi-themed images and conversations continued to
circulate across the Internet, according to UPROXX.
WWE later released a statement saying that it “has released Zahra Schreiber due to inappropriate and offensive remarks she made that were recently
brought to our attention,” Sporting News reported.
The incident does not mark the first time that Schreiber has found herself in hot water with social media during her time with the WWE. Nude photos of Schreiber that had been sent to her now-boyfriend, WWE star Seth Rollins, were leaked on his social media accounts in February by Rollins’ former fiancée, Leighla Schultz, according to Sporting News. In the wake of the scandal, Rollins and Schreiber began dating.
Although Rollins has both defended and apologized for his girlfriend’s behavior in the past, he has not made any comments in response to this latest scandal, as of yet.
The Schreiber incident over the weekend was not the first firing scandal the WWE has seen this year. Hulk Hogan was fired in July after racist remarks he made in 2007 rose to the public’s attention, according to the Bleacher Report.
Twitter users posted their disgust and their support for WWE’s decision before and after Schreiber’s sacking:
