A Florida man was arrested for reportedly stealing a yacht worth almost $1 million then abandoning it after crashing it. For three months, police have been on the lookout for 28-year-old Donovan Russell Jester, who stole the boat from a dock in St. Petersburg, Florida, and last week they finally caught him, Fox News reported.
While on his joyride, Jester crashed the 46-foot Jeanneau Leader yacht into channel-marker pilings. He then abandoned the vessel, which was later recovered by local deputies in a nearby oyster bed, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. A thumbprint on the cabin door led them to Jester, who was charged with grand theft vessel. He is facing up to 30 years behind bars.
According to Jeanneau's website, the luxury vessel features a "spacious sport top, laid out entirely on one level, with its large U-shaped salon to port side, a modular bench seat at the helm that converts into a sheltered sundeck, and a very attractive cockpit galley."
The yacht has two cabins. The main one includes a king-size bed, modular head and shower compartment while the guest cabin includes a private head and shower compartment.
