The consumer aviation website Skytrax has released its annual report on the world’s best airports, putting Singapore’s Changi International Airport at the top of the list for the fifth straight year.
The Skytrax best airport awards, which are based on millions of passenger surveys around the world, were announced in a ceremony in Amsterdam on March 14.

“Winning the Skytrax World’s Best Airport Award for the fifth consecutive year is immense encouragement to our 50,000-strong airport community at Changi Airport, every one of whom is passionate about delivering the most memorable airport experience to our passengers,” CEO of Changi Airport Group Lee Seow Hiang said in a statement, Business Insider reported. “This recognition affirms our service belief which we have held steadfast all these years — putting passengers at the heart of all we do.”
No North American airports made the top 10 on the list, with Vancouver International Airport hitting highest at No. 13. Tokyo Haneda got a nod for world’s cleanest airport and was also No. 2 overall, and Taiwan’s Taoyuan had the best airport staff, according to the survey.
Heathrow Airport in London had the best shopping, and Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta got the most-improved award.
Other airports in the top 10 included Munich Airport in Germany at No. 4, Hamad International in Doha, Qatar, which moved from No. 10 to No. 6 this year, and newcomer Frankfurt Airport in Germany, which got the No. 10 spot this year.
