Two Wisconsin co-workers were shocked to find out that the workplace was not the only thing they shared in common — they also happen to be father and son, WLAX-TV reported.
Nathan Boos and Bob Degaro, both truck drivers, had been colleagues at Rock Solid Transport for two years but they never suspected that they could be related.
Boos knew he had been adopted at birth but he had never brought the topic up with his parents.
That all changed when his mother noticed he was friends with his biological father on Facebook.
She told Boos and as they chatted, it emerged that his biological father also was a truck driver.
When she logged onto Facebook and showed him the profile of Degaro, Boos could not believe that his biological father was his colleague.
He reached out to Degaro, who said he nearly fell off his seat.
Speaking about the decision to give his son up for adoption, Degaro explained that he had been going through financial stress.
"Back then I wasn't much of a dad," he said, according to WLAX. "His biological mom had chosen the adoptive parents because they were somewhat related, … distant cousins I believe but I didn't know that."
Both men want to develop their relationship but are taking it slowly.
"It's still kind of a shock, and there are days I'm not sure exactly what to say or how to act, I mean he is my son but we didn't have that father-son relationship growing up, and then we became working partners before we knew who we really were," Degaro said, according to WTVD-TV.
The unlikely family reunion was reminiscent of another incident in which an adopted woman recently found her sister living next door in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Dawn Johnson and Hillary Harris, who became next-door neighbors last year were thrilled to learn that they are half-sisters, sharing the same father in a revelation that stunned both women in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, according to WISN-TV.
