Anti-Walker Vandalism Plan in Stores Doesn't Pan Out

The pitch that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's opponents used to encourage people to protest his policies by placing anti-Walker stickers on grocery store products Sunday apparently fell on deaf ears, the Racine Journal Times reported Monday.

Last week, the Wisconsin Grocers Association warned member stores of the anti-Walker sticker protest. Walker opponents were targeting items made by companies that contributed to the Republican governor's campaign, the grocer group said.

Managers at several stores said they noticed nothing unusual Sunday.

"We've been trying to keep our eyes out," said David Tolton, night manager at Gooseberries Fresh Food Market.

Nathan Jones, assistant manager at Sav-A-Lot, said no signs of trouble had arisen as of early Sunday evening. The same went for a Piggly Wiggly store where manager-on-duty Jacob Salinas said he had heard about the possibility but nothing had happened.

Law enforcement agencies reported no incidents at local grocery stores.
