Former Tennessee Titans running back Antonio Andrews was arrested after reportedly biting a woman's nose and stealing her wallet on Wednesday while violating a protective order which required him to stay away from her.
Andrews now faces charges of aggravated stalking, vandalism over $1,000, violation of an ex-parte protective order, and harassment, according to WSMV.
Andrews and the woman, who has not been identified, met for dinner and drinks on the night that the alleged domestic incident took place, according to an arrest affidavit. They then returned to Andrews' apartment, where he asked to see the woman's phone but, when she refused, he reportedly bit her nose, grabbed it after she dropped it, then fled to the parking garage. When he was unable to open the phone, he threw it back to her, causing it to crack in multiple places, the affidavit states. He then allegedly got into her vehicle where he stole her wallet, which included money, credit cards, driver’s license, and passport.
Responding officers arrived to find Andrews had already left the scene. When they tracked him down, he said that he and the woman went to dinner and "while driving back to his apartment were trying to think of what else to do for the night," the affidavit noted. He claimed that the woman noticed he had several notifications from other women and grew jealous, at which point he tried to grab her phone.
The woman released a statement through her lawyer, saying that Andrews "is not a bad guy."
"He needs help football has messed him up and the NFL doesn't care or do anything for these athletes once they just toss them to the curb," the statement read. "These athletes have more damage than they think and may not even realize it and they do nothing."
She added that Andrews "needs help instead of punishment."
Andrews played for the Titans from 2014 to 2016, then later moved to the Memphis Express of the now-folded AAF, according to 247Sports. He was released prior to the start of the season.
