Because a base was stolen in Game 1 of the World Series, Taco Bell is giving away a free Doritos Locos Taco to everyone who comes into one of their locations between 2 and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2.
The fast-food taco chain promised in a promotion to give away free food if a base was stolen during the World Series. The “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” promotion was triggered when Cleveland Indians’ shortstop Francisco Lindor stole second base during the first game of the World Series on Oct. 25.
President Barack Obama even mentioned the giveaway Tuesday while he was campaigning for Hillary Clinton in Columbus, Ohio. “Because I’ve been watching the World Series, I am aware that because Francisco Lindor stole second base in Game 1, everyone in America gets a free taco at Taco Bell tomorrow," he said. "If you can find the time to get a free taco then you can find the time to go vote! If you can find the time to go to Taco Bell … you can find the time to cast your ballot," he said, Business Insider reported.
Last year, Taco Bell spent at least $10 million giving away A.M. Crunchwraps in a similar promotion when Lorenzo Cain of the Kansas City Royals stole second against the New York Mets.
Game 7 of the World Series between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Cleveland.
