Super Smash Bros is finally coming to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo announced at the end of its Nintendo Direct presentation Thursday to wild fan applause from those assembled at the Nintendo World Store in New York City.
After announcing that they had one more video to play, fans were treated to a battle between two Splatoon 2 characters, then focusing on one of the character's eyes where the Smash Bros logo appeared, then cutting to silhouettes of Mario and Link from The Legend of Zelda and finishing off with a huge burning Smash Bros logo, CNET reported.
The hugely popular game has been on many wish lists for the Switch and will likely be one of the Switch's biggest games of 2018, Forbes reported. The working title of the game is "Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros," which means that it will be a standalone game and not a port of the Wii U's "Super Smash Bros 4." It will likely be the most highly anticipated new Switch game since the console was released.
Other games announced during the stream were a single-player expansion for "Splatoon 2," the "Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy," "Undertale," "Dark Souls Remastered," and "Mario Tennis Acres," Forbes reported.
Twitter followers expressed excitement and began debating which other characters should be in the game.
