Selma Blair has been cast to play reality star Kris Jenner in the upcoming FX miniseries “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.”
The miniseries will take a behind-the-scenes look at the "Trial of the Century" from the
lawyers’ perspective, Deadline reported. Jenner is the ex-wife of Simpson’s attorney Robert Kardashian, who died of cancer in 2003. The couple’s children, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Rob, are featured on the reality show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”
Jenner was divorced from Robert Kardashian at the time of the 1994 trial of retired football star O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Goldman. Kris Jenner was also was a
close friend of Brown's, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Simpson is currently serving a 33-year prison sentence for several felony counts of kidnapping and armed robbery.
Filming has already kicked off for the miniseries, which will
premiere in 2016, Us Weekly reported.
“Friends” star David Schwimmer will play Robert Kardashian in the miniseries. Others cast for the project include John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson, Connie Britton as Faye Resnick, Jordana Brewster as Denise Brown, and Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark. Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk will executive produce.
The miniseries is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book “The Run of His Life: The People v. OJ Simpson."
Blair, 42, is best known for her roles in films like “Anger Management,” “Legally Blonde,” and “Cruel Intentions.”
Entertainment publications called the casting decision perfect.
