Jerry Seinfeld is speaking out about Roseanne Barr's firing from her rebooted show and what he'd like to see going forward.

“I didn’t even know why they had to do that,” Seinfeld told USA Today about the end of the show. “It seemed like, you don’t need to murder someone that’s committing suicide. I thought the firing was overkill.”

The 64-year-old comedian and actor did mention it was the first time he had seen “someone ruin their entire career with one button push,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

Barr's show would have probably died on its own, Seinfeld noted, because of the backlash to her controversial tweet about Valerie Jarrett, a former Obama administration official.

Seinfeld told USA Today he wasn’t sure if Barr should have been allowed to continue in her role because “I don’t really watch that kind of TV, so I don’t know much about it.”

But he did have some ideas for the spinoff series, “The Conners,” which won’t include Barr, mainly that they should have another actress play her character.

“They brought Dan Conner back, he was dead and they brought him back. So, why can’t we get another Roseanne?” he told ET, saying he hates to see comics miss out on jobs.

Seinfeld has been promoting the 10th season of his “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” series on Netflix. He had nine successful seasons on his classic sitcom “Seinfeld,” but he says he’s not interested in a reboot.

“I don’t love that trend,” he said, USA Today reported. “I’m not a fan of going back.”
