Sam Sarpong, MTV Show Host, Jumps to Death from Bridge

MTV show host Sam Sarpong committed suicide by jumping off a bridge, but details surrounding his death remained under investigation in Pasadena, California.

Sarpong, 40, an actor and model, co-hosted the MTV reality show "Yo Momma," with Wilmer Valderrama, said E! News.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner is calling the death on Monday a suicide. An autopsy was pending.

"It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Sarpong, Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away," Sarpong's publicist said on Wednesday, according to Variety. "The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time.

Described as British-American, the former Tommy Hilfiger model has a part in the television drama "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson," which will hit the airwaves next year, said E! News.

A crisis negotiation team tried to save Sarpong.after he was spotted on bridge by a witness. He talked with police for seven hours before jumping, noted Us Weekly

"While conversing with the individual, members of his family arrived and provided background regarding his emotional state," said the Pasadena Police Department. "Tragically, after approximately seven hours of communication, the male jumped from the bridge into the Arroyo."
