A 17-year-old Indiana boy was killed by a bullet to his head, apparently while playing Russian roulette with a group of friends at a home in Kokomo.
The Associated Press reported the Miami County Sheriff's Office as telling the
Kokomo Tribune that deputies were called to the home about a report a teenager had been shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Miami County Sheriff Tim Miller said Leroy Young, 17, died of an apparent gunshot wound at the residence of an acquaintance at about midnight Thursday.
Deputies said the teenager and several other teens had been invited to the home. They were in a bedroom playing video grams when the victim produced a handgun and loaded a single bullet and spun the cylinder. He then placed the weapon to his temple and pulled the trigger. Deputies say one round was discharged into the victim's temple.
“The investigation is still in the early stages,” Miller said.
Because so many Kokomo High School students knew Young, the school had extra counselors available to talk with students the next day, said communications director Dave Barnes.
