Runaway Beer Blimp on Loose in Canadian Skies; Pilots Warned

By    |   Tuesday, 29 April 2014 09:51 AM EDT

A runaway beer blimp is roaming the skies of Canada after it broke loose from its tether at a local hockey game over the weekend.

The Transportation Safety Board has alerted pilots in the New Brunswick area to beware of the 70-foot long, helium-filled balloon in the shape of a hockey goal light, according to the Toronto Sun.

The runaway beer blimp reportedly got loose Saturday. Officials said they expect it to descend sometime soon near Sussex, New Brunswick.

Blimps in Texas made headlines last week when officials announced that the three large U.S. Border Patrol surveillance balloons set up last fall have helped capture more than 100,000 illegal immigrants and narcotics smugglers.
