Rapper T.I. was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges outside the gated community where he lives in Henry County, Georgia, near Atlanta.
The artist, whose legal name is Clifford Harris Jr., was arrested on charges of simple assault, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors, at approximately 4 a.m. at the entrance of the Eagles Landing Country Club, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
A guard at the entrance to the community reportedly refused to allow the rapper entry when he was unable to present his own key.
“Don’t you know who I am?” T.I. asked the guard, according to police, WSB-TV reported.
At some point during the exchange, T.I. called a friend who drove over and joined in the argument. The Henry County Police Department arrested the friend; there was a warrant for his arrest, the news station reported.
Steve Sadow, the rapper's attorney, told WSB-TV in a statement that T.I. "was wrongfully arrested" and that the guard even refused entry with T.I.'s wife on the phone confirming he should be let in. "The guard continued to refuse entry without justification."
The rapper has been released on bond.
