Prince, accompanied by his band 3rdEyeGirl, will play an extra-long, eight-minute musical segment on "SNL" this week.
"As you're probably aware, most of the musical guests perform two separate songs on 'Saturday Night Live,' but Prince is not like most musical guests. Instead of two performances, he'll provide the audience with eight full minutes of unadulterated,
commercial-free Purple glory," Billboard reported.
The show's official Twitter account confirmed the news Tuesday.
The "SNL" performance will mark Prince’s first television appearance to promote his simultaneously released albums,
"Art Official Age" and "Plectrumelectrum," The Wrap reported.
Chris Rock will host the Nov. 1 episode. Rock, an "SNL" cast member from 1990 to 1993, hasn’t appeared on the show
since guest hosting in 1996, Rolling Stone reported.
Rock’s latest film, "Top Five," which he wrote, directed and stars in, opens Dec. 12.
Twitter users expressed enthusiasm about the episode.
"SNL" airs at 11:30 p.m. EST Saturday on NBC.
