Poll: Florida's Sen. Rubio Gets High Marks

Sen. Marco Rubio has been in office less than three months and he’s receiving high marks so far, according to a poll released Monday by Viewpoint Florida.

Rubio, who has emerged in the national spotlight recently advocating against raising the nation’s debt limit, has a job approval rating of 61 percent. Only 30 percent of likely voters gave him a negative review. Even Democrats like him. Just 48 percent of Democrats said they disapproved of the Republican senator, while 83 percent of Republicans graded him favorably.

In contrast, Sen. Bill Nelson lacks enthusiastic support from his Democratic base as he faces re-election in 2012. Nelson received positive remarks from 45 percent of those surveyed, and 38 percent didn’t like his work in Washington. Nearly one in four Democrats disapproved of his recent job performance, the survey found.

The survey was conducted on March 29 and March 30 among 838 registered voters likely to vote in the 2012 General Election. It has a margin of error of 3.4 percent.
