Pen Camera Used to Record Woman Pumping Breast Milk at Office

An Oregon man who secretly used a “spy pen” camera to record a coworker pumping breast milk in her office was sentenced Tuesday to 10 days in jail.

Russell Kent Gordon, 45, who lives near downtown Portland, also received three years of probation and 160 hours of community service. Judge Stephen Bushong, who called Gordon’s actions an "egregious invasion of privacy," said Gordon must receive mental health counseling, sex-offender evaluation, and possibly pay restitution to the victim, The Oregonian reported.

The victim, who is undergoing counseling, said she discovered the camera pen in her office that Gordon used to videotape her while she pumped breast milk for her baby. After she told managers, Gordon resigned. His arrest came a few days later.

"I think maybe the worst of it is that Mr. Gordon sullied what was in my mind a very selfless act on my part, an act that was meant only for my daughter and my daughter alone," she said in court, according to KTRK.

Gordon apologized in court.

"I do take responsibility for what I have done," he said, adding he will undergo available treatment programs.

The Oregonian reported that Gordon said during the trial that he placed the camera pen on her desk to record evidence of wrongdoing, specifically in case she stole data or intellectual property since she was leaving her job. However, the woman had never done anything like that before, Gordon said.
