Oreo has revealed that Fruity Pebbles is its mystery flavor, although the unveiling does not come as a surprise for many people who had already guessed the flavor.
According to USA Today, the massive cookie empire launched its new mystery flavor in October but, rather than give the cookie a name, the company decided to keep fans guessing what the flavor was.
People had until the end of November to submit their guesses, and those who voted Fruity Pebbles now stand a chance to win cash prizes.
The reveal was met with a divisive response on social media. Some loved the idea of a cookie modeled after their favorite Flintstones-themed breakfast cereal while others were less ecstatic.
Oreo has released some unique flavors in the past including waffles and syrup, cookie butter, hot cocoa, Swedish Fish, popping candies, and peanut butter and jelly, Food and Wine noted. Basing a flavor upon a breakfast cereal is mild in comparison.
