Occupy Protester Called for Moment of Silence for WH Shooter

An Occupy San Diego protester’s request for a moment of silence for the man accused of shooting at the White House was met with some confusion at a demonstration at San Diego Police headquarters, and with universal derision in the conservative media.
 

“I think we should have a moment of silence and solidarity . . . for the White House and the guy that shot at the White House today,” a man later identified as Tyler Kai LoRusso told a crowd through a megaphone, in a widely circulating Internet video.

A young lady who appeared to be an organizer responded with a confused look as the speaker hands back the megaphone, while other protesters are shown with their heads bowed solemnly, with one holding his baseball cap over his heart.

LoRusso later clarified his thoughts about alleged shooter Oscar Ramiro Ortega to the San Diego newsweekly CityBeat.

“Whoever shot at the White House is basically a terrorist,” said LoRusso, “and I was holding a moment of silence for the White House and President Obama and everyone in the White House. I wasn’t holding a moment of silence for the terrorist in any way. We’re a peaceful movement, and we don’t support people shooting at the White House.”
