Quinnipiac Poll: Obama, Generic Republican Tie in Pa.

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign faces bad news in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania. A new poll from Quinnipiac University shows that Obama is in a dead heat with a generic Republican in the keystone state. A generic Republican has support from 41 percent of registered voters, compared with 40 percent for Obama, The Hill reports.

The survey also shows that 53 percent of Pennsylvania voters disapprove of Obama's job performance, while only 42 percent approve. And 52 percent believe he shouldn’t be reelected. The report is obviously encouraging for Republicans, as Obama beat GOP nominee John McCain by 55 percent to 44 percent in 2008.

The poll has a margin of error of 2.7 percentage points.
