Barack Obama has got "dad moves" and he is not afraid to bring them to the dance floor.
The former U.S. president explained his dance philosophy to David Letterman in a clip for an upcoming interview in "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction."
"The key is what we call staying in the pocket," Barack Obama said, according to The New York Daily News.
"I think everybody here knows dads who get out of the pocket and they're trying stuff that they can't really pull off and, you know, they start doing karate kicks and all kinds of stuff."
Obama was referring to a secret concert that Prince held at the White House in 2016 at which Obama ended up busting a move after his daughter, Sasha Obama, dragged him up on stage.
"This was probably three or four months before he died and Prince asked Sasha to come up and dance and she's an excellent dancer," he told Letterman, according to CBC.
"Then Sasha pulls me up — which surprises me, because she always mocks my dancing. I have dad moves."
Rather than resort to "doing karate kicks and all kinds of stuff," Barack Obama decided to play it cool by staying in the pocket.
The former president's appearance as the inaugural guest for David Letterman's six episode Netflix series, marks his first talk show appearance since leaving the White House last January, USA Today noted.
The upcoming series features hourlong episodes premiered each month and will include interviews with guests such as George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey and Howard Stern.
The interview with Barack Obama is set to premier on Friday and signifies Letterman's return to late night TV since retiring in 2015, CBC said.
