Nicolas Cage knows how to make a quick decision. — and how to be just as quick about reversing it.
Four days after marrying Erika Koike, Cage filed for an annulment, according to court records obtained by The Blast.
The couple, who have been dating since last April, tied the knot Saturday in Las Vegas. It was widely reported that Cage had filed for a marriage license and the couple were married the same day they obtained the license.
Things appear to have soured very quickly, because by Wednesday Cage filed for the annulment.
There has been widespread speculation as to what may have prompted Cage's change of heart. TMZ reported that, according to the annulment documents Cage and Koike were drunk when they decided to get married.
The 55-year-old Hollywood actor allegedly claimed to have acted on impulse without fully understanding the full impact of his actions.
Cage further claimed the marriage was a fraud because his bride didn't disclose "the full nature and extent of her relationship with another person," TMZ reported, adding that Cage cited conflict in personalities "so deep as to render the two incompatible in marriage."
This will be Cage's fourth failed marriage. According to USA Today, he was previously married to Patricia Arquette from 1995 to 2001. A year later wed Lisa Marie Presley but that only lasted two years. After that, he was hitched to Alice Kim from 2004 to 2016.
Cage recently opened up about his split with Kim, saying it caught him by surprise.
"It was a shocker for me – I definitely didn’t see it coming, and those feelings had to go somewhere, so they went into the performance," he told The Guardian.
"She was quite young when I married her and I don’t really have any ill will towards what happened," he continued, adding that it was "pretty grim" to be facing singledom again.
