Gingrich: Daniels Would Have Been ‘Formidable’

Former House Speaker and 2012 presidential contender Newt Newt Gingrich, Mitch Daniels, 2012 Presidential ElectionGingrich says Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, who has declined to throw his hat in the presidential ring, would have been a “formidable” opponent, Politico says.

“He is one of the great reform governors in this country,” Gingrich said on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

"He is a terrific talent, he would have been a very formidable competitor," Gingrich said. "I really thought he would be among the front-runners from day one if he'd decided to run."
