The most famous recipes are New York-style cheesecake, which uses heavy cream or sour cream, Pennsylvania Dutch-style cheesecake that yields a lighter texture, country-style cheesecake that uses buttermilk, and Chicago-style cheesecake, which has firm outsides with a soft, creamy center, among other styles, according to the Christian Post.
The Cheesecake Factory, with more than 150 outlets nationwide, found a feeding frenzy
on its Facebook page, as visitors snatched up National Cheesecake Day coupons with 44,500 likes and 21,300 comments by Tuesday afternoon.
The Atlanta-Journal Constitution said the Cheesecake Factory was offering at its four metro Atlanta locations slices of its namesake at half-price all day. That includes its latest creation, the Toasted Marshmallow S'mores Galore.
People on Twitter were ready to chow down.
"There's a national cheesecake day?! really?? I'm going to celebrate mine by having some of the creamy chocolate goodness that just happens to be in my fridge right now," posted one Reddit user.
"Oh god I wish I had cheesecake right now. I didn't realise this was even a thing! I'm celebrating by... drinking this Toffee Apple cider, though it tastes no where near as nice from a can," posted another user on Reddit.
