Miko Grimes, the wife of Miami Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes, was arrested for head-butting a police officer on Sunday afternoon before her husband's team lost to the Buffalo Bills at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens.
Grimes, 40, was reportedly entering a restricted area near the southeast gate of the stadium when police officers issued several warnings
asking her to stop, according to the Sun Sentinel. When she paid the officers no heed, they attempted to subdue her, grabbing her in a bear hug and throwing her to the ground as she violently flailed her arms and legs in the air and threw obscenities at the officers. After she was handcuffed and raised to her feet once more, she suddenly jerked her backwards and head-butted the officer behind her.
After the officers warned her with taser threats, Grimes ceased her resistance and was whisked away on a golf cart
towards the police station, The Associated Press reported. She continued to struggle and resist the police during her ride to the station, where she was treated for minor injuries to her arms and knees.
Grimes was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct, battery on a law enforcement officer, and
resisting arrest, according to the New York Daily News. She was held a Miami-Dade jail before being released on bond. Although her husband was made aware of the arrest, neither he nor the Dolphins have offered up any comments.
Miko Grimes is well-known in the Miami area as a local talk show host on sports radio 560-WQAM, as well as for her obscenity-laden Twitter rants critiquing and criticizing the NFL, the Dolphins, and the team’s fans, according to the Sun Sentinel. She has nearly 11,000 followers on Twitter.
