Mercedes unveiled its long-awaited AMG GT 4-door coupe at the Geneva auto show on Tuesday, making it the automaker's first four-door sportscar.
Outside Germany, the car is known as a sedan, and buyers have a choice of a 3.0 liter engine that gets 429-hp and is a mild hybrid, a twin-turbo V8 that gets 577-hp, or an even bigger V8 that gets 630-hp, Autoweek reported.
All models are nine-speed automatics, with some variations on the type of transmission used, Motor1 reported.
Mercedes said the top model should hit 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, beating Porsche's fastest four-door coupe by a tenth of a second. Top speed is 195 mph for the 630-hp engine and 174 mph for the 3.0 liter engine, Motor1 reported.
The version of the car released in the U.S. will seat four people, but other markets will seat 5 with a rear bench seat, CNET reported. An AMG Track Pace feature captures vehicle performance data to analyze it, and 12.3-inch screens house a COMAND infotainment system.
A variety of finishes and colors will be available when the car launches in early 2019, and a number of optional features are also available. A rear spoiler can move to increase aerodynamics, a cabin filter can circulate a pleasant scent, and a chrome package is available for those who want the flashiest car possible, CNET reported.
The price of the various models and packages are not being released until closer to launch, Fox News reported, but competitive models from other carmakers start at about $85,000.
