Melania Trump is celebrating her 48th birthday, and Donald Trump said he got her a "beautiful card" to mark the occasion.
Trump was asked about his gift during a call with "Fox & Friends," according to New York Magazine.
"Maybe I didn't get her so much. … I got her a beautiful card," he said.
"You know I'm very busy, to be running out looking for presents. But I got her a beautiful card and some beautiful flowers, and she did a fantastic job with France."
Donald Trump was referring to how his wife welcomed Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron during a head-of-state arrival at the White House.
"The people of France were just spellbound by their great president who just left," Trump said, according to USA Today.
It has been just over a year since Melania Trump took up the role of first lady.
"I better not get into that because I may get in trouble," Donald Trump said during the "Fox & Friends" interview, when asked about his wife's birthday, according to The Telegraph.
Donald Trump sang her praise during a toast at dinner with the French president and his wife Tuesday.
"To America's absolutely incredible first lady, thank you for making this an evening we will always cherish and remember. Thank you, Melania," he said, per The Express.
