Meghan Markle has officially disrobed from her role in "Suits," having starred as Rachel Zane for seven seasons, in a two-hour season finale Wednesday.
The episode culminated with the highly anticipated wedding of Zane and Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams, who also bids farewell to the show.
Up until this week fans have wondered how exactly directors will pull off the exit of two main characters.
They handled it rather easily.
Writers have been building up to this moment for several episodes by including hints throughout at how the two characters could leave "Suits," suggesting that the two could work together professionally and perhaps even jump cities, Entertainment Tonight noted.
This was brought up in the final installment of season seven, with Ross being offered a job to relocate to Seattle, Washington, to open a legal clinic.
After a brief discussion, the couple decided to take the opportunity, which would conveniently require them to start the new chapter of their lives sooner rather than later.
With one major decision made, Ross and Zane were left having to figure out what to do about their upcoming nuptials.
Relocating would mean flying back to New York for the wedding in six weeks or having to move the date.
Addressing this, Ross told Zane he was tired of postponing their nuptials.
"I've wanted to marry you from the second I met you, and I'm tired of waiting," he said, per TVline, solving that debate.
With the help of Donna they arranged the low-key wedding and exchanged their vows in a moving ceremony.
Ross and Zane have been an item from season one and, while this would usually be the epitome of sentimentality in any other series, for "Suits" the poignant moment came when Ross bid farewell to his mentor, Harvey Specter.
"This is who I am. It's who I've always been," Ross told Specter at the wedding reception, according to Entertainment Tonight. "It's time, Harvey. It's time."
