Manly Chores = More Sex, Study Finds, But Men Who Like Dusting …

A new study sure to enrage American women concludes that men who spend more time performing traditionally female chores around the house tend to have less sex. However, according to National Survey of Families and Households, mates who toil over more manly chores are more active in the bedroom.

That means that guys who cook, clean, and shop are apparently having less active sex lives than those who do yard work, pay bills and work on their cars.

The study, using data on heterosexual couples across the nation appears in the February issue of the American Sociological Review.

“Couples in which men participate more in housework typically done by women report having sex less frequently," said study leader Dr. Sabino Kornrich, according to Britain’s Daily Mirror.

"Similarly, couples in which men participate more in traditionally masculine tasks - such as yard work, paying bills, and auto maintenance - report higher sexual frequency."

“The importance of gender has declined over time, but it continues to exert a strong influence over individual behaviors, including sexual frequency within marriage,’’ Kornrich said.

Kornrich warned that men shouldn’t think they can now ignore housework.

"Men who refuse to help around the house could increase conflict in their marriage and lower their wives' marital satisfaction," he said.
