The lunar eclipse of 2018 – neigh, of the century – is on for Friday, but if you live in North America and parts of South America you won’t see it, at least not with your own naked eyes.

The spectacular event with a blood moon taking place July 27-28, the longest total lunar eclipse of the 21st Century, will be visible only to those in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Those in the U.S. won’t be able to see the eclipse at all. It also won’t be visible in most of the Arctic and many areas of the Pacific Ocean. South Americans can see the partial final stages after sunset.

Thanks to modern technology, you will still be able to live-stream the blood moon and there are a number of choices.

Slooh.com will be showing the lunar eclipse from various telescopes around the world from 1 p.m. EST on Friday and will also be airing it on Facebook Live.

Time and Date will also be offering live coverage from 2 p.m. EDT, Business Insider reported.

The Weather Channel is another choice, with an app that will livestream the eclipse starting at 4 p.m. ET.

Those living outside of the U.S. may very well be able to catch a glimpse of the blood moon.

The entire full eclipse can be seen in most of Europe apart from the U.K., where moonrise is later, at 8:49 p.m., and the first 19 minutes will be missed, Forbes reported.

The full lunar eclipse will also be visible to most parts of Asia, except for Japan, which will not see the maximum eclipse and will miss the ending.

Over in Africa, the eclipse will be visible throughout the entire continent, with those living on the furthest eastern and southern parts being treated to the best viewing locations in the world.

Meanwhile, in the land of social media, talk of the lunar eclipse is buzzing as people across the world prepare to witness the historical event, with many looking into the esoteric side of things.
