Lindsay Frasher has been arrested as a suspect in the attempted kidnapping of a 3-year-old at a Northern California park.
Frasher, 28, is currently being held at the Placer County jail, according to the Los Angeles Times. According to the Auburn Police Department, Frasher’s bail is set at $200,000.
Auburn police officers were called to the scene at Ashford Park around 1:42 p.m. Saturday after Frasher had allegedly tried to kidnap a 3-year-old girl from her grandfather, Maroc Journal reported.
“Ms. Frasher approached one of the children, called her by a different name and tried to take her,” said Sgt. Gary Hopping, according to KTXL-TV.
The child’s grandfather was able to thwart the suspect.
“It was a tug-of-war over the little girl,” Hopping said.
According to the LA Times, the grandfather was able to hold on to his granddaughter while keeping Frasher from fleeing the scene until police arrived.
The child did not suffer any injuries during the incident, People magazine noted.
Police haven’t determined a motive for the attempted kidnapping.
Police said Frasher “was not known to the child or family members involved,” according to the Times.
As of Tuesday, Frasher hadn’t entered a plea nor had she hired a lawyer to fight the charge against her.
The recent incident has Auburn mother Cheyanne Martinez worried about the safety of her children.
“Just even letting them run off far enough to where I can’t get to them fast enough makes me nervous,” Martinez told KTXL-TV.
