Rush Questions Power of Mainstream Media

By    |   Monday, 03 October 2011 01:40 PM EDT

Rush Limbaugh Monday proudly quoted an Associated Press story that says: “Republicans live in mortal fear of Rush Limbaugh outing anyone for being insufficiently conservative” and used it as another example of mainstream-media, anti-Republican sentiment.

“They [Republicans] still view the mainstream media as the primary group they have to convince they are legitimate,” Limbaugh said on his talk show.

Rep. David Prince, D-N.C., made the AP-quoted comment about Limbaugh.

“Republicans live in mortal fear of me outing anyone for being insufficiently conservative,” Limbaugh said pondering the quote, adding the AP wish it had “this kind of power.”

Other examples of mainstream-media bias include stories about the booing of a gay soldier after he asked a question during a Republican presidential debate, and the issue of a marker with the “n” word painted on it at a west Texas ranch frequented by Rick Perry, he said.

“Somebody is going have to put the brakes on . . . this booing,” Limbaugh said of the media coverage. “They were not booing a gay soldier, they were booing his question.”

He said GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain “joined that chorus” on the “n”-word controversy.

Cain and other Republicans have a “mistaken belief” about the power of mainstream media, he added.

“That leads to pandering to them,” Limbaugh said. “It is part of the Democrat Party . . . media playbook.”
