Pictures of Kellyanne Conway sitting with her feet on the couch in the Oval Office began to surface on the Internet Monday night, drawing immediate criticism.
Photos were taken on Monday, showing the White House counselor kneeling on the couch as President Donald Trump stood behind his desk surrounded by representatives from different historically black colleges and universities, according to The Washington Post.
It appeared that the 50-year-old was kneeling on the couch to take a photo of Trump as the reps gathered around him, Us magazine noted.
Since the photos surfaced, many have taken to Twitter to criticize Conway.
Washington Post writer Chris Cillizza called the outrage "incredibly dumb," adding that "every party not in the White House likes to express shock and outrage at the way the other side is treating this hallowed job and office."
While there were many who looked at this as a lack of respect for the office, there were also many Twitter users who used footage of former President Barack Obama and others to argue why Conway kneeling on the Oval Office couch is not even close to being a big deal, CBS News noted.
It is not the first time Conway has found herself under scrutiny since Trump has entered the White House in January.
She’s been vilified for falsely referring to the “Bowling Green massacre” on two separate occasions, according to US magazine. She’s also been criticized by her contemporaries for defending claims about “alternative facts” regarding Trump’s inauguration crowd sizes, and her explanation for Michael Flynn's resignation as national security adviser.
