After modeling with the same agency since she was first discovered at age 14, Kate Moss is opening a brand new agency under her name, the Kate Moss Agency.
Moss was discovered as a teen by Storm Modeling Agency and was featured at many shows and events throughout her long 27-year career. She left the agency earlier this year and began to lay the groundwork for her own talent agency with the help of her booking agent with Storm, Lucy Baxter.
Harper’s Bazaar reported that Moss said, “I felt like I wanted to do things that were more than modeling. It didn’t matter how much we would try and do it together with them, I was always going to be the little Kate that they’ve known since I was 14," Moss said, according to Harper's Bazaar. "It was like leaving home. I had to leave, and they were very understanding about it."
Moss’s agency will focus on talent and not just modeling.
“I don’t really want pretty people, I want people that can sing and dance and act — I want to create stars,” Moss told Business of Fashion.
Moss is one of the richest models in the world, reportedly worth more than $75 million.
In addition to opening a new agency, Moss also plans to expand her lifestyle brand. Camilla Johnson-Hill of The Production Club will be her brand and business manager. “It was so perfect to get somebody that understood me and what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go with it,” Moss told Business of Fashion. “She’s a doer. I love doers.”
To promote her brand, Moss has opened her first Instagram account. She had previously stayed away from most social media, but recognized that it would be beneficial to her new venture to have a presence there.
