A Kanye West meltdown included two rant-paralyzed concerts and ended with the musician cancelling the remaining dates on his Saint Pablo tour after railing about Beyoncé, Jay Z and others Saturday.
The meltdown began with statements made about President-elect Donald Trump during Thursday night's show, when West said he “would have voted for Donald Trump” if he had cast a ballot, complementing the Republican for his “method of communication,” calling it “very futuristic,” The Associated Press noted.
During Saturday’s show, which ended abruptly, West went on a long rant about Beyoncé, Jay Z, Hillary Clinton, DJ Khaled, Lebron James, Mark Zuckerberg, the radio and MTV, the AP noted.
“Beyoncé, I was hurt,” West told fans, according to Us Weekly. “I am putting my career, my life [and] my public standing at risk when I talk to y’all like this. This is a moment in the matrix, bro…Beyoncé, I was hurt because I hear that you said you wouldn’t perform unless you won Video of the Year [at the 2016 MTV VMAs] over me and over [Drake’s] ‘Hotline Bling.’…Sometimes we be playing the politics too much and forget who we are just to win.”
After that statement that likely left the "BeyHive" in disarray, the outspoken rapper shouted, “I’m on my [Donald] Trump s*** tonight,” and then dropped the mic before storming offstage, Us Magazine noted.
“The remaining dates on the Saint Pablo tour have been canceled,” the rapper’s rep confirmed Monday, according to Us Weekly. “Tickets will be fully refunded at point of purchase.”
Among his series of recent rants, Kanye spoke on the issue of racism in the world, telling his fans that he’d wish people would stop talking about it, CNN reported.
“He’s just exhausted. He’s been working around the clock on fashion design, both his own line and the Adidas line,” a source close to West told Us Weekly. “He’s a notorious workaholic…so balancing both that work – which is extremely important to him – and the rigors of the tour every night, it really wore him out. All the time spent away from his family has been a stress on him, as well. They are the most important to him.”
“Obviously he’s a professional and wants to give his fans a great experience, and I think his gut was telling him not to extend the tour through the end of the year, but he decided to push through. He doesn’t want to give his fans anything less than the best.”
West had 21 dates left on his tour before pulling the plug.
Twitter users responded to the meltdown, with the hashtag #KanyeIsOverParty trending Sunday.
