Josh Homme said he’s sorry for kicking a woman photographer in the face as he performed on stage during a concert in Los Angeles.
The lead singer for the Queens of The Stone Age said he was "lost in performance" on Saturday and believed he was actually kicking a light when he struck the photographer during the band's fourth song in the concert, "The Evil Has Landed," Sky News reported.
The photographer, Chelsea Lauren, posted a video of the incident on her Instagram account, where it appears that the frontman was striking at the camera.
"… I now get to spend my night in the (emergency room)," Lauren wrote on the social media site, suggesting that she was treated at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. "Who does that."
She added later, according to Sky News, "My neck is sore, my eyebrow bruised and I'm a bit nauseous. The doctor released me early in the morning."
Chelsea, who works for the stock photography company Shutterstock, described the incident in detail with Variety."
"… I saw him coming over and I was shooting away," Lauren told Variety, adding she was in the area next to the stage with other photographers. "The next thing I know his foot connects with my camera and my camera connects with my face, really hard. He looked straight at me, swung his leg back pretty hard and full-blown kicked me in the face.”
"He continued performing, I was startled, I kind of stopped looking at him, I just got down and was holding my face because it hurt so badly," she added, adding she planned to file a police report.
In a statement released Sunday, Homme apologized for the incident.
"Last night, while in a state of being lost in performance, I kicked over various lighting and equipment on our stage," the entertainer said, per Variety. "Today it was brought to my attention that this included a camera held by photographer Chelsea Lauren. I did not mean for that to happen and I am very sorry. I would never intentionally cause harm to anyone working at or attending one of our shows and I hope Chelsea will accept my sincere apology."
Queens of The Stone Age was headlining KROQ Radio's "Almost Acoustic Christmas" concert.
