Marilyn Mason was injured by a falling stage prop during a New York concert Saturday, forcing the longtime metal rocker to cancel the numerous dates to his "Heaven Upside Down" tour, Rolling Stone magazine reported.

Mason, whose band reached its peak in the 1990s, suffered the injury about an hour into the concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom when a prop resembling two large pistols appeared to suddenly fall on him, the magazine stated.

Rolling Stone said concert video showed Mason grabbing the prop before it came tumbling down.

"It just came falling down ... he was a little limp, like he was knocked out," concertgoer Anthony Biscardi told the New York Daily News. "Everybody started panicking. We hope he's OK, because we are all fans."

A Manson representative confirmed that the singer was injured during the concert, Rolling Stone reported.

"On Saturday night, the legendary performer suffered an injury on stage towards the end of his set at NYC's Hammerstein Ballroom causing him to cut the show short," the Manson's representative said in a statement. "He was treated for the injury at a local hospital and will be recuperating at home in Los Angeles.

"Marilyn Manson is being forced to cancel several of his October dates on his forthcoming U.S. tour. … The shows from Boston, Oct. 2 through Houston, Oct. 14 will be rescheduled for a later date. Manson hopes to return to the stage soon, more details on upcoming shows to follow," the rep. continued.

According to Manson's website, the dates included Boston's House of Blues Monday; The Paramount in Huntington, New York on Tuesday; the Rebel in Toronto Thursday; the Rock Alliance, in Camden, New Jersey on Saturday; Express Live in Columbus, Ohio on Oct. 8; the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on Oct. 10; the Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee on Oct. 11; and the Freaker's Ball, Kansas City, Missouri, on Oct. 12.
