During his presidential campaign trail, JFK confessed to his adulterous behavior in a series of notes which have now been made public.
At the time, Kennedy was suffering from a bout of laryngitis and had been ordered not to speak so he communicated with his aides by jotting down his thoughts -- and confessions -- on yellow legal pads.
"I suppose that if I win my poon days are over," he wrote about his sexual endeavors in one note cited by Daily Mail. Kennedy, who married Jackie Kennedy, a brunette, also wrote of how he "got into blondes."
In another note, Kennedy expressed his fears of how his campaign may be impacted if news of his adultery emerged.
"I suppose they are going to hit me with something before we are finished," he wrote.
The 98-page dossier, which was penned throughout 1960, was recently sold by Heritage Auctions, of Dallas, Texas, for $25,000. The notes were previously owned by a private collector for many years.
"JFK was a prolific doodler and these notes give a fascinating insight into his state of mind during the vigorous campaign," said Curtis Linder, a specialist at Heritage. "He would certainly not have wanted his note about liking blondes to go public! There was always debate about whether he was having affairs with Marilyn Monroe and interns at the White House."
The emergence of Kennedy's shocking notes comes days after an excerpt from a new book suggested that Monroe had a secret abortion weeks before her death and that the baby might have belonged to either Kennedy or his brother, Robert Kennedy.
"It would be easy to assume that the aborted child was a Kennedy, but she was seeing other men as well that spring and summer," the author, Fred Lawrence Guiles, wrote.
