Jennifer Aniston was 10-years-old when her father, John, packed his things and left. They later reconnected, but it has always been strained between the two – until now. Jennifer has forgiven her father and is checking in on him every day to see how he is amid the coronavirus epidemic, a source told Daily Mail.

"Jen forgave her father for walking out a long time ago, but their relationship has had its ups and downs," the unnamed insider said. "Jennifer didn't speak to him for ages. But since the coronavirus crisis, she has been on the phone almost every day, and not just brief conversations. It's like she has realized life is very short, and she wants her relationship with John to be the best it can be. He's thrilled that they have reconciled."

Jennifer recently opened up about her childhood, claiming she "felt unsafe" growing up. She attributed living in a "destabilized" home as a child to her rocky relationship with her parents. She recalled the day John left her mother, Nancy, in 1979.

"I went to a birthday party, and when I came back, my mother said, 'Your father's not going to be around here for a little while,'" Jennifer said, per Daily Mail. "She didn't say he was gone forever. I don't know if I blocked it, but I just remember sitting there, crying, not understanding that he was gone. I don't know what I did later that night or the next day. I don't remember anything other than it being odd that all of a sudden my father wasn't there. And he was gone for a while, about a year."

John did reach out to his daughter again.

"He just called one day and said, 'Let's go see The Fantasticks,'" Jennifer said. "So, we had a little dinner and saw the show. After that, I started seeing him on weekends, and this new way of life unfolded."

The 51-year-old star admitted John was "not a good communicator," but he did apologize and try to explain things to Jennifer "as best he could" and that was enough for her. "We've made up. There's still parts that are hard for me, but I'm an adult. I can't blame my parents anymore."

The two have gone through extended periods of not talking but since the coronavirus, Jennifer has been "an amazing daughter" to John, the source said.

"He says she's calling constantly to check on him," the source told the Mail. "They obviously can't see each other, but they have spoken more in the past few weeks than they ever have."
