Marc Meyers wrote the script for the movie and will direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jeremy Renner first played Dahmer on film in the 2002 independent movie titled "Dahmer."
Dahmer was accused of killing 17 males between 1978 and 1991, raping and dismembering them. He was eventually beaten to death while an inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin, on Nov. 28, 1994.
Lynch appeared in the Disney Channel's hit series "Austin and Ally" along with the "Teen Beach Movie" and its sequel. The actor also performs music as part of pop-rock band R5.
