Herman Cain said Tuesday his wife is “doing marvelous” a month after he ended his presidential bid amid allegations of sexual harassment and infidelity.
“My wife is doing marvelous, thank you," Cain said in response to a question from
CBS’ Norah O’Donnell on “The Early Show.”
"We were blessed to have our fourth grandchild on New Year's Day. So, 2012 has gotten off to a great start for my wife and I,” he said.
Cain suggested his decision to withdraw from the Republican presidential race had been a good thing for his wife of four decades, Gloria.
“She is doing fine because since I got out of the race, we don't have to constantly hear the spinning and the re-spinning of those false accusations,” he said.
The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO suspended his campaign on Dec. 3 after allegations surfaced that he had been accused of sexually harassing female subordinates while he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s. A Georgia woman also came forward to claim they had carried on a 13-year affair.
