A "House of Cards" trailer was dropped into the Oscars on Sunday, with Robin Wright in the president's chair for the post-Kevin Spacey final season and declaring, "We're just getting started."
Spacey and Wright had played the power-hungry couple of Frank and Claire Underwood since the Netflix streaming series started five seasons ago. They made history along the way with each winning Golden Globe awards – Spacey in 2015 and Wright in 2014, some of the first high-profile awards for a streaming series.
Now, in the wake of the #MeToo movement, Spacey stands accused by more than a dozen men of sexual misconduct, The Wrap reported, leading to his firing from "House of Cards"
The show’s producers reworked the storyline to focus on Wright's character and the public got a sneak peek with the Oscar trailer.
"House of Cards," which took a three-month hiatus to make the necessary changes for its final season, is expected to return to Netflix this fall, CNN reported.
The new season should look nearly like a natural transition from Season 5, with Frank Underwood resigning as president and Clair Underwood coming commander-in-chief, then denying her husband a presidential pardon for his crimes, The Wrap revealed.
The trailer had an Oscars hook because Spacey was also dropped from the movie "All the Money in the World" and replaced by Christopher Plummer, who was nominated for an Academy Award as best supporting actor for the role.
Many on social media appeared to be cool to the trailer.
