President Donald Trump's Hollywood Walk of Fame star was defaced by followers of the Black Lives Matter movement who left their mark by spray painting “BLM” and leaving what appears to be a bag of dog excrement on Sunday.
Thousands had taken to the streets that day to participate in a march down Hollywood Boulevard to call for an end to police brutality following the death of George Floyd, who was killed after an officer knelt down on his neck, when they noticed the vandalism.
Photos uploaded to social media show the star completely covered with black spray paint with "BLM" marked just below. On top of the star is a bag which reportedly contained dog excrement. A black doll stands near the star holding a placard.
"This is @realDonaldTrump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. That is a green bag with some dog," a protester who shared photos of the damage to Twitter, wrote
Trump's star has been targeted by vandals before. In 2018, an unidentified man smashed it to pieces with a pickaxe and in 2016, a man dressed as a construction worker took a sledgehammer to the star. That same year a street artist nicknamed Plastic Jesus edged Trump's star with a six-inch high wall to protest the president's proposal to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
