Hilary or Hilaria? Spanish accent or no accent? While Alec Baldwin has achieved cult status with his Saturday Night Live impersonation of President Donald Trump, his wife is being accused on doing a different type of impersonation. Multiple reports question Hilary (Hilaria) Baldwin’s statements about her background, where she grew up, and if her occasional Spanish accent is real.
Now Hilary (Hilaria) is speaking out against critics who have accused her of faking her Spanish accent and heritage. Speaking with The New York Times, the former yoga instructor, said she found the sudden interest in her background very strange and surreal.
"There is not something I’m doing wrong, and I think there is a difference between hiding and creating a boundary," she said.
Hilary (Hilaria) came under scrutiny after videos were shared on social media showing her slipping between a Spanish and English accent. Reports then emerged highlighting the fact that Hilary (Hilaria) was not born in Spain, despite many biographies stating otherwise.
Hilary (Hilaria) addressed the backlash in an Instagram video on Sunday, explaining that she was born in Boston and grew up spending time with her family between Massachusetts and Spain, where her parents and siblings now live.
Speaking with The New York Times, Hilary (Hilaria) said the biographies were unverified. She also tried to explain the NBC "Today" cooking segment doing the rounds on social media in which she forgets the English word for "cucumber." Hilaria said she was nervous to appear on live TV and got confused about the word. She added that the strength of her English and Spanish accents was dependent on how happy or upset she is feeling.
