Harry Connick Jr.'s 19-year-old daughter was arrested over the weekend after throwing a house party at her parent's house in Connecticut.
"This is a private matter which we are dealing with as a family," the singer and "American Idol" judge
told People magazine in a statement on Tuesday. "We have no further comments. Thank you for understanding."
According to Lt. Jason Ferraro of the New Canaan police, the department received a call around 1 a.m. on Saturday after getting an anonymous tip about a rowdy party with possible underage drinking.
When police arrived, Georgia Connick said that she only intended to have a small group over while her parents were out, and that the party swelled beyond her control when uninvited guests began showing up. Many partygoers attempted to flee into the nearby woods, police said, scattering cans of alcohol as they went.
The police department arrested Georgia for permitting minors to possess alcohol and procuring alcohol for minors. They said they also contacted the parents of 15 of the partygoers, whose ages ranged from 18 to 20.
Connick was reportedly never taken into custody, and did not have a mugshot taken. She promised to appear in court in Stamford on Sept. 2.
