GOP: Obama Helped Juice Support for Our Budget

President Barack Obama’s partisan speech about the budget has sparked support for the 2012 budget plan proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., many Republicans say. GOP optimism is running high for the House Budget Committee Chairman’s plan, The Hill reports.

“I think the president helped us,” Ryan said. Freshman Rep. Rob Woodall, R-Ga., agrees. “If anything it galvanized enthusiasm,” he said of Obama’s speech.

Republicans aren’t too impressed with Obama’s recommendation that House and Senate leaders choose 16 members to negotiate a deficit reduction strategy with Vice President Joe Biden.

“We heard a pitch again yesterday about the need for another commission, even though the president utterly ignored the last one,” said House Speaker John Boehner.
